UDGIR FORT AND HISTORY OF THE FORT
FORT : UDGIR is the most wonderful city in Latur Dist . It is like a Tourist Place. UDGIR Fort is the only Fort in Latur Dist. And it has it own History in the History.
Udgir is one of the most important towns of Latur district. Udgir has a great historical significance. It has witnessed the war between the Marathas and the Nizam of Hyderabad which took place in 1761. The Marathas lead by Sadashivrao Bhau defeated the Nizam and the treaty of Udgir was signed. The fort of Udgir stands in all its glory speaking volumes about the Indian history and Indian culture. The fort is bounded by a Area of 40 feet deep trench as the fort is built at the ground level. In the fort are several palaces Durbar halls and most importantly the Samadhi of Udaygir Maharaj which is 60 feet under the normal ground level. This is a place of great reverence to the people of the region. The fort has some rare inscriptions written in Arabic and Persian.

These movies were all super hits and his performance in Parinda even got him the Filmfare Best Actor award in 1990. However, Jackie has mostly been successful in supporting roles rather than in a full fledged lead.
Besides his supporting roles some of his famous lead roles were in films like Angaar, where he is portrayed as a youth who is frustrated with crime and corruption and decides to then lead a violent campaign against them. Geography
Udgir is situated on a elevated land and hence there is no river nearby. Although, watersupply is managed by two big artificial dams.
Udgir is located at 18.3 Degree N 77.12 Degree E [1]. It has an average elevation of 632 Metres (2073 Feet). The Name Udgir was derived from the famous saint Udagir Baba.

Udgir has a good hold politically. Home Minister, Shivraj Patil, is from Udgir contituency. Chief Minister, Vilasrao Deshmukh is from the same area. President, Pratibha Patil is also from the same area.

Udgir has a suger factory which was inaugurated by Miss. Sonia Gandhi, President of Congress Party of India. A new PVR Comples has been constructed recently. Reliance Pertol pumps.
